A Message from the Haskins Society Council, and especially the European Vice-President: “We would like to encourage as many Haskins members as possible to take part in / arrange sessions at the 2007 International Medieval Congress at Leeds, which will take place 9—12 July 2007. The theme for this year's congress is 'Medieval Cities', to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the first borough charter for Leeds. However, papers on all aspects of the study of the European Middle Ages are also welcome. There is no need to confine yourself to papers on urban history. For fuller details see www.leeds.ac.uk/ims The deadline for sessions to be submitted for the 2007 IMC is 30th September 2006. In particular, we would like to encourage British-based Haskins members to organise sessions under the Haskins banner, since there will be no Haskins one-day conference in Britain in 2007, as there has been in some previous years. We may well re-instate this on a one-off basis in future, but after discussion with previous Vice-presidents for Europe, it was decided that for the moment we should use the Leeds IMC as the forum for Haskins activity in Britain. (Needless to say, US, Japanese and European participants are welcome to join us for Haskins-sponsored sessions at Leeds). Please contact the European vice-president, Graham A. Loud, [or C.P.Lewis, also a member of the Leeds programming committee], or the International Medieval Congress administration: IMC@leeds.ac.uk." All best wishes, Graham Graham A. Loud, 0113-3433601 |
