Graduate Students

This society exists in large measure to make graduate students and young scholars very welcome. We aim to be congenial company for them in a way not true of all scholarly societies. We have therefore taken steps to make it as easy as we can for them to join us at conferences.

—Society President Paul Hyams

Thanks to the generous contributions that continue to augment the Keefe Fund, the Society has recently been able to abolish the conference registration fee for attending graduate students. For lodgings at more student-amenable rates, we have been able to make arrangements which, however, cannot be advertised broadly. For more information on these options, please contact the Conference Director, Jennifer Paxton, for more information. The Society wishes we could secure more economical meals, but those prices are beyond our direct control. In the meantime, there are alternatives within the conference's very building (the Conference Center Hotel) with a cafeteria and food court. Additionally, the Georgetown area offers quite a variety of enjoyable options in the neighborhood at good rates (although your return stroll may be a bit brisk in order to make the next panel). Feel free to ask around between sessions, and someone will assuredly have recommendations.
